Note from Owner
I would like to personally welcome you to my Dèlmas Karant-Uit (Delmas 48). I hope you get a chance to read this before you move on through this page. Dèlmas is an urban extension of the Haitian capital Port-au-Prince similar to a district. It has busy roads, mansions, and lots of fritay! Some specific memorable details are the breathtaking sunsets from the road in front of my family home., and the stars! All we had to do was stand on the roof to experience a 3D-like star show. That is how I choose to remember Dèlmas. Unfortunately, after the earthquake of 2010, we left our family home. In the past years, I've been feeling disconnected from my roots, so I took it upon myself to start cooking more Haitian food at home. Then for my friends. Then for my family. Now I am cooking for you!
Media will portray the entirety of Haiti as a poor, dangerous, and destroyed country. While there is violence and poverty, as there is in many countries around the world, there is also rich culture, amazing food, and loving people. There are beautiful beaches and mountains. To understand Haiti and the Haitian people you have to understand the history of Haiti. Maybe someday we can teach you, but for now, I want to introduce to you the beauty of Haitian cuisine.
Please enjoy, and let us know what you think. With Love,
